Paul McBeth is back in the DGPT winner’s circle! With rounds of -12 (bogey-free), -13, and -9, Paul closed out Idlewild to win by a single stroke over Gannon Buhr. It’s his first DGPT victory since the 2023 PCS Open—ending a nearly two-year drought.
The Weekend at a Glance
Idlewild delivered its usual mix of tight fairways, angle control, and nervy finishes. Across this past weekend (Aug 22–24, 2025), McBeth set the tone early with a bogey-free 12-under, followed by the hot (-13) on Moving Day, then did just enough in the final to seal it on 18 (-9).
Per DGPT/StatMando live stats, Paul led the field in:
Birdie %: 67%
Bogey %: 4%
Parked %: 24%
Circle 1 in Regulation: 59%
Circle 2 in Regulation: 78%
Strokes Gained Tee-to-Green: +17.95
Elite placement off the tee, stress-free approaches, and almost no mistakes was necessary for McBeth take down this event.
Round One – Bogey-Free Start (-12)
Paul McBeth opened his weekend at Idlewild with a statement round. Carding a bogey-free -12, he showcased classic control on one of the tour’s most demanding tracks. His precision off the tee gave him clean looks, and with a 67% birdie rate, he immediately positioned himself at the top of the leaderboard. A flawless start that reminded everyone the 6x champion was locked in.
Round Two – Turning Up the Heat (-13)
Moving Day belonged to Paul. With a blazing -13, he not only kept pace but separated himself from the field. His Circle 2 in Regulation rate (78%) gave him birdie chances nearly every hole, while a 24% parked rate meant stress-free tap-ins. It was vintage McBeth—controlled aggression, perfect angles, and the ability to capitalize when it mattered most. By day’s end, he was sitting atop the leaderboard with momentum fully on his side.
Round Three – Closing on 18 (-9)
Sunday was all about composure. McBeth entered the final round with the lead, and though the field pressed hard—especially Gannon Buhr—Paul leaned on his Athena for control shots and the Luna for clutch finishes. His -9 final round wasn’t the hottest score of the day, but it was enough. On Hole 18, a laser drive and pinpoint upshot set up the winning putt, clinching his first DGPT win since 2023 by just one stroke.
